Eighth Grade Night Doesn’t Disappoint
Posted on 10/10/2024
On Wednesday October 9th the SMS Boys Soccer team welcomed Elkview Middle for eighth grade night. The rivalry between the two schools was on full display from the first whistle to the last whistle. Just like the first meeting between these two schools the game was scoreless through fifteen minutes. A corner kick from Zachary Stuck was placed perfectly allowing Ryker Wiseman to pull off the hard to achieve header for a goal. This feat was accomplished in the previous game vs Elkview for the first goal of the game. The score would remain 1-0 until the first minutes of the game when Elkview scored two quick goals to start the half. The game would become more physical between the teams which eventually resulted in a penalty kick when Kayne Adkins was fouled in the goal box. Stuck would then tie the game 2-2 on a successful PK goal. With the game on the line goalie Ryker Wiseman would face the daunting task of defending a PK with minutes remaining in the game. Wiseman did the impossible and denied Elkview the probable game winning goal. The excitement of a well fought game between the rivals provided the fans and players a game to remember. The Redhawks end the regular season by hosting Horace Mann Middle School on Monday October 14th at 5:30.
